Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' directed by Sudha Kongara which was released directly on Amazon Prime Video not only won high critical praise and viewership records but also won several international awards.

The film, based on the true life of aviation pioneer G.R. Vishwanath was jointly produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment with G.V. Prakash Kumar scoring the music. The star cast had names such as Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal and Urvashi.

A few weeks back Suriya announced the Hindi remake of the cult film writing on Instagram "Excited to announce our association with @Abundantiaent led by @ivikramix for #SooraraiPottru in Hindi, Directed by #SudhaKongara".

Guneet Monga the co-producer of the Tamil version of 'Soorarai Pottru' approached the Madras High Court and has procured a stay on the Hindi remake. According to her petition, she had an agreement with Suriya for any remake of the film but he has signed a new deal with another company.

It is rumoured that Akshay Kumar will reprise the role of Suriya and it remains to be seen how the case proceeds or whether the two parties will settle the dispute.
