Sushant Singh case: Media fight ensues over AIIMS 'ruling out' murder

Two days after a national media house claimed that the AIIMS forensics head Dr Sudhir Gupta had discovered that Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide and that there is no reason to believe that he was murdered, fresh claims have been made by another media house that Dr Gupta had taken a U-Turn by ruling out homicide angle.

Republic TV on Monday released the audio tapes of Dr Sudhir having a conversation with the TV channel way back in August. During the conversation, the doctor is reported to have unmasked the role and lapses of investigation done by Mumbai Police in the case of the late Bollywood actor, who was found dead in his Mumbai house on July 14.

There should be no doubts over the case. We (the AIIMS panel) examined all issues and all seven top doctors have unanimously concluded that Sushant died by suicide and not murder, India Today has quoted Dr. Gupta as saying after Republic TV on Monday claimed otherwise.

Defending his channel's report, senior journalist Rahul Kanwal of India Today wrote, To now start calling AIIMS doctors corrupt is the greatest disservice someone can do. This is India’s premier medical institution. Doctors here save countless lives of poor and rich alike. Show some respect. Have some shame. You told a lie and that lie got busted. Satyamev Jayate.
