Simbu after a long gap tasted massive success with his recent film 'Maanaadu' directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Suresh Kamatchi. The time loop based thriller had music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Richard M Nathan and editing by Praveen KL. Kalyani Priyadarshan, S.J. Suryah, Y.Gee Mahendra and SAC played pivotal characters.

'Maanaadu' suffered several production woes due to many factors including Simbu's sudden weight loss and the COVID 19 pandemic lockdowns. Suresh Kamatchi had spoken out in several interviews that he faced unbearable stress before the release.

Meanwhile in a sudden turn of events Simbu's father T. Rajendhar has sent legal notice to Suresh Kamatchi and financier Uttam Chand in connection with the sale of the satellite rights of 'Maanaadu'.

According to the notice, it is said that on the day before the release of 'Maanaadu' there was tremendous financial pressure and Uttam Chand procured a signature from TR taking responsibility for rupees five crores for the unsold satellite rights. A further condition was that if the film sold for less than that amount TR had to bear it. Only after the latter agreed to the conditions laid out the film was allowed to hit the screens.

T.Rajendhar in his legal notice has alleged that now that 'Maanaadu' is blockbuster hit, Suresh Kamatchi and Uttam Chand are attempting to sell the satellite rights for a huge amount without his knowledge.
