The official updates from the Tamil Nadu government reveal that today the 76 persons have tested positive for the COVID 19 and the total number in the state has risen to 1596. Chennai alone has accounted for 55 new patients with the staff of a Tamil News Channel based in Royapuram accounting for 26. One patient lost his life today taking the total death count to 18 in the state so far.
A total of 635 patients have recovered and discharged till date including 178 today and there are 940 active cases now. 6060 samples tested today taking the tally to 53,045 samples tested so far and 1,917 people are under hospital isolation with the rest home quarantined.
