TN coronavirus official updates - Chennai sees yet another big spike in new cases

The official updates for the coronavirus in Tamil Nadu has shows 72 news cases with Chennai accounting for 52 of them. The total number of infected in the state has now grown to 1755 and Chennai to 452.which is the highest with Coimbatore a distant second with 134 cases. Two people have lost their lives in the last twenty four hours taking the death toll to 22.
Tamil Nadu has done well to take the sixth position overall in India with 72,403 samples tested and 6,426 samples of them. 1846 people are admitted to hospital and are under observation while 25,503 are under home quarantine.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister Edappadi Pazhaniswamy has announced a total lockdown from 26th April 6 am to 29th April 9 Pm wherein all shops will be shutdown except medical stores, hospitals and hotels that deliver on phone call basis only. There is a plan to disinfect all areas extensively during the total curfew period.
