A day after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the prevailing Covid-19 situation and also about the cancellation of NEET in the state, TN health minister Ma Subramanian has asked medical aspirants to continue preparing for the entrance test this year.

In response to the AIADMK's statement that the situation surrounding the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) for aspiring medical students was causing confusion among students, the health minister said that even though the state government is trying its best to seek an exemption, the students must still continue preparing for the exam this academic year. "Now admission is based on NEET. The state is working towards getting a permanent exemption from the entrance test. Nevertheless, we don't want to leave students stranded if we don't get that exemption," the health minister was reportedly quoted as saying.

"After coming to power, the DMK has made consistent efforts to ensure students don’t have to write this test. A nine-member committee under retired justice AK Rajan has been working to study the impact of NEET on students. In the past one week, the committee has met at least four times. The committee will submit its recommendation to the state within a times," he added.
