Tamil Nadu Minister gets 3 years jail

The ruling ADMK government has suffered a huge setback as its Sports Minister Balakrishna Reddy has been sentenced to 3 years jail by a special court. It is in relation to a 1998 case when Reddy was involved in pelting stones and damaging public buses and properties when protesting against illicit liquor in Hosur.
According to law Mr. Balakrishna Reddy will automatically lose his qualification as an MLA and Minister. Twenty years back when the incident occurred Mr. Reddy was a member of the Bharathiya Janatha Party and later joined the ADMK. He has been allowed to go for an appeal to the High Court.
