An engineering student from a college in Trichy's Thuraiyur stabbed his college warden to death after the latter allegedly complained to the boy's father that he bunked classes for four days.

The accused, identified as Abdul Rahim, reportedly did not attend college for four days and was not present in the hostel either. As he had not informed the college authorities regarding his absence, the hostel warden, identified as G.Venkatraman (45), had complained about the same to Rahim's father, who severely rebuked Rahim. Angered and disheartened over the criticism, he got into an argument with the warden, when Rahim stabbed him in the throat and abdomen.

The victim died on his way to the hospital. Investigation of the matter is in progress.
