Tata Motors India has recently unleashed its electric car Tigor EV and has now opened booking for the electric vehicle. This is the second electric vehicle from the maker after 'Nexon EV'. Tiger EV is the second model based on Tata’s Ziptron EV architecture. Tata Motors has informed that the final price of the all-new Tigor EV will be announced on August 31.

The new EV is based on the internal combustion engine (ICE) Tigor facelift that was introduced last year. While it looks very similar to the ICE version, there are a few key differences. The most notable difference is a new glossy black panel in place of the traditional grille, with an electric blue accent underlining the entire setup. The Tigor EV also gets blue highlights inside the headlamps and on the 15-inch alloy wheels, which also feature a new design.

The Tigor EV gets a 7.0-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4 speakers and 4 tweeters, iRA connected car tech, multi-function steering wheel, dedicated 'Sport' drive mode, automatic climate control, digital instrument cluster, and much more. In terms of safety features, the Tigor EV gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, seat belt reminder and more.

The revamped Tata Tigor EV with Ziptron technology has a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, an output of up to 75 hp and 170 Nm of torque, can go from 0-60 kph in 5.7 seconds. Tata also offers an eight-year or 1,60,000km on the battery and motor. The Tata Tigor EV Ziptron adopts the widely-accepted CCS2 charging standard and supports fast charging as well. It will take only about an hour to go from 0 to 80 percent with fast charging, and 8.5 hours when slow charging. The maximum range of this car is expected to be 250 kilometres.

The Tata Tigor EV Ziptron is likely to undercut the Nexon EV’s Rs 13.99-16.85 lakh price range and could cost about Rs 1.5-2 lakh more than the ICE-powered Tigor, which currently tops out at Rs 7.81 lakh. The estimated price is around 10 lakhs. Tata Motors is already leading the EV race in the country, so this also means that the Tigor EV could be the most affordable EV available to private buyers in India. At this price, the Tigor EV does not have any direct rivals in the market.
