Telangana Govt Forms SIT To Probe Into Online Gaming & Betting

The online betting scams and the illegal promotion of the betting apps is growing intensely in Telangana state. The government has decided to act strictly against the offenders. Already, the government is chasing down the influencers who are a part of this eco-system. In a groundbreaking development, the government has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to conduct a detailed probe into this.
A five-member team has been constituted with an agenda to probe into cases related to betting apps under the supervision of the Director-General of Police. CID chief Shikha Goel will submit a comprehensive report to the State government through the Director-General of Police Jitender within 90 days.
A government order regarding the same has been released too. The special team will evaluate legal provisions, regulations and the restrictions that can be introduced into the advertising, organization, and promotion of the online betting.
M. Ramesh, Inspector General of Police, Provisions and Logistics, Ch. Sindhu Sharma, Superintendent of Police (SP), Intelligence, K. Venkata Lakshmi, SP, CID Economic Offences Wing (EOW), S. Chandrakanth, Additional SP, attached to Cyberabad and M. Shankar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), CID EOW are a part of this SIT.
