Thala Ajith had last acted in Ner Konda Paarvai directed by H Vinoth, and the movie which was the remake of the 2016 Hindi hit Pink starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee was a superhit in Tamil version too. Ner Konda Paarvai was produced by Boney Kapoor.

After the success of Ner Konda Paarvai, Ajith and H Vinoth are coming together again for Ajith's next movie currently being mentioned as AK60, and this movie was expected to start shooting in August itself. However, the latest update is that AK60 will begin shooting in December.

AK60 is also produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview LLP, and it has been said that, after movies like Mankatha, Aarambam, Yennai Arindhaal, Ajith will be seen as a police officer. It is said that this movie will be an action entertainer with family sentiments and will release in Summer 2020.
