Back in February, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced that a statue will be erected for legendary Sachin Tendulkar at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Now, the MCA has decided to honour the World Cup-winning former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

On April 2nd 2011, Mahendra Singh Dhoni ensured our country's World Cup win with a six-over long-on at the Wankhede Stadium and ended India's 28-year trophy drought. After 12 years, the MCA is now going to name the seat after MSD on which the wicket-keeper batter's title-winning helicopter shot landed. As per the reports, a small victory memorial will be built at the same location in Wankhede Stadium stands to commemorate the 2011 world cup victory.

Amol Kale, the MCA president, said, "MCA will approach MS Dhoni tomorrow and request for his time for the inauguration of the Memorial. MCA is hopeful that it will be inaugurated by MS Dhoni when he will be in Mumbai for CSK's match with MI on 8th April. The date is yet to be finalised as it will completely depend on MS Dhoni's consent and availability. MCA will also felicitate MS Dhoni when he inaugurates the World Cup Victory Memorial in Wankhede Stadium."
