Thalaivar 173: Superstar in Ulaganayagan’s Production – Kollywood’s Mega Alliance!

The two poles of Tamil cinema, Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, have joined forces for a massive project. An official announcement regarding Rajinikanth’s 173rd film, produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raj Kamal Films International (RKFI), has been released, creating immense excitement among fans.

Cibi Chakaravarthi (of Don fame) will be directing the film. While Sundar C was initially considered, Cibi Chakaravarthi has now been officially signed.Music: Anirudh Ravichander, who has become Rajini’s go-to composer, will provide the soundtrack.Producers: Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran.Release Date: The film is scheduled for a Pongal 2027 theatrical release.

The recently released poster features the tagline: “Every Family Has A Hero.” The background showcases a scatter of tailoring tools—scissors, needles, and thread—alongside scattered bullets. This suggests the film could be a family-oriented action drama or the story of a secret hero hidden behind the profession of a tailor.

This collaboration marks a historic milestone in Tamil cinema, as the Rajini-Kamal duo reunites (as actor and producer) after nearly 40 years. With Anirudh’s music and Cibi Chakaravarthi’s commercial screenplay, there is no doubt this will be a massive treat for Rajini fans.
