Today the 4th of December marks the twenty fifth year of the release of 'Naalaiya Theerpu' directed by S.A. Chandrasekhar introducing his son Vijay as hero.  The film was received with a luke warm response but the hero was trolled to no ends by the critics as well as the audiences.  The just 18 kid did not go and hide anywhere but strived on to his next level of criticism as a "sex pada hero".

Vijay had to wait only around four years and eight films to get his major breakthrough in 1996 with 'Poove Unakkaga' directed by Vikraman which became a phenomenal hit and the star finally arrived.  During the next twenty odd years he earned his tag as the Ilayathalapathy taking wins and losses in his stride.

By the time Vijay hit superstardom with 'Ghilli' he had already found a special place in the hearts of the people from toddlers to senior citizens who bought his casual acting and entertaining films.  Right from 'Thalaivaa' Vijay is a target of the powers that be who clearly are uncomfortable with his stock rising and have tried to disrupt the smoothe releases of all his films including the latest blockbuster 'Mersal'.

Through 'Mersal' Vijay admirably took on state and centre politics and his opposition even lost the religion card they threw on him for the masses only love him more as Joseph Vijay now.  We at Indiaglitz congratulate the allrounder star Thalapathy Vijay on entering his twenty fifth year as the premier entertainer of Tamil cinema.
