'Friends' stars and college buddies Vijay and Suriya dominated twitter in 2017 according to the microblogging site's report published on Monday.  Thalapathy's 'Mersal' which is the first Indian movie to get a dedicated emoji was the most trending topic across the nation garnering a colossal 1.7million tweets in three days.

Suriya's 'Thaana Serndha Koottam' teaser that came up recently has been dubbed the "Golden Tweet" as it has seen a staggering 68,856 retweets.  'Baahubali 2' is the next film that held dominance this year making the South Industry well ahead of Bollywood as far as social media engagement is concerned.
