The case involving Thalapathy Vijay's Rolls Royce Ghost has given rise to many twists and turns. In the year 2012, the mass hero had purchased and imported the luxury car from England and had requested an exemption from the entry tax though he had paid up all other necessary customs and taxes. The case on his exemption request had been going on for nine years and recently came up for a hearing when Judge M. Subramaniam not only fined Vijay a sum of rupees one lakh but also slammed him for asking for tax exemption.

Vijay's advocated filed an appeal against the single judge's fine and also sought expungement of the harsh remarks. The division bench hearing the petition stayed the single judge's orders but directed the actor to pay the entry tax.

Today the original case came up for hearing and judge M. Subramaniam questioned Vijay's advocate whether his fine amount was paid to the government as coronavirus relief. The advocate replied that already his client had paid rupees twenty-five lakhs for the fund last year and he did not wish to pay any more amount for the same.

The judge then taking into account the appeal today passed orders closing the case in his court. The final resolution now rests with the division bench for which the hearing is on August 31st.
