Is Thalapathy Vijay wearing his religious symbol in 'Beast' song 'Arabic Kuthu'?

'Arabic Kuthu' the first single from the upcoming 'Beast' movie starring Thalapathy Vijay was released on Valentines Day to a thunderous response from fans. The song has garnered a mammoth 41 million on YouTube and has also found its place in the international chartbusters list.

It is quite usual for controversies to erupt whenever the first look posters or other updates are released for a Vijay film and 'Arabic Kuthu' is no different. The Arjun Sampath led Indhu Makkal Katchi has taken to Twitter to share a photo of Vijay in the song with the pendant he is wearing circled.

It was written by the IMK Joseph Vijay wearing Cross is a welcome sign, he is unapologetically and boldly displaying his religious identity - what's wrong in it. IMK welcomes this, every one has freedom of religion in India. Unnecessary propaganda must be avoided.

Several fans on Twitter reacted to the IMK claim and have pointed out that it is not a crucifix that Vijay is wearing but on the contrary it is an anchor. Others are countering that it is indeed a cross but is shaped like an anchor. Anyways Vijay has always been a secular person and has promoted unity amongst his fans through many speeches and his movies is what hardcore fans maintain on social media.

'Beast' is directed by Nelson and produced by Sun Pictures with Anirudh scoring the music. The film stars Vijay and Pooja Hegde as the lead pair and is slated for release on April 14th 2022.
