Filmmaker Thangar Bachchan has said that the National Award given to 'Periyar' in the Best Film in Regional category has not excited him in any way.

Says the director, who has handled the camera for the movie, Periyar is a film which is above all regional categories. It deserves a better recognition.

Sathyaraj should have got the Best Actor Award for the film 'Onbadhu Roobai Nottu', directed by me. However at the same time, I am happy for Prakash Raj who also deserves the honour, he adds.
