Sai Pallavi has become a sort of a dream girl in neighboring Kerala and Malayalam movie fans in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere after the stupendous success of Premam` directed by Alphonse Putheran in which she portrayed the role of a Tamilian, Malar Teacher. Kotagiri born Sai Pallavi did her schooling in Coimbatore and the Badaga community she belongs to consider Tamil, their go to language as their mother tongue is a dialect.

It is a real mystery why Sai Pallavi refuses Tamil films and that too the likes of Mani Ratnam`s Kaatru Veliyidai`opposite Karthi, the lead role opposite Ajith in Thala 57` and most recently the Vikram-Vijay Chander project. No one knows for sure for what reason these projects did not work out for the actress, but even a passerby will swear that these are costly misses that any other serious artiste would sacrifice anything to get.

The curious case of Sai Pallavi is why she is playing hard to get and refuses prestigious project in her mother state . The most mysterious aspect in this cat and mouse game is why the filmmakers like the proverbial Vikramaditya make a beeline to her door when rejection is a certainty. The conclusion one comes after a year and half of Premam` is that they actually want to sign Malar teacher for their films but end up ringing the doorbell of Sai Pallavi. Time to wake up to the fact that Malar is a figment of Alphonse`s imagination brought to life through an actress and does not exist beyond Premam`. Meanwhile Sai Pallavi will continue her journey as a Malayalam and Telugu actress who will one day become a heart surgeon perhaps.
