The Lunchbox
What is it?
`The Lunch Box' has been successful in garnering rich critical acclaim way before its release. With ace actors like Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Nimrat Kaur featuring in the movie, `The LunchBox' has become a brand in itself.
`The Lunchbox' had its premiere at the International Critics' Week of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year where it won the Audience Award, Grand Rail d'Or and then went on to win the Audience Choice Award at the World Cinema Festival in Amsterdam. Recently it was screened at the prestigious Telluride Film Festival and Asia Society.
Directed by Ritesh Batra, the film is being presented by UTV Karan Johar and DAR Motion Pictures and has been produced by Guneet Monga, Anurag Kashyap and Arun Rangachari. Co-Producers on the film include NFDC, Essel Vision, ASAP films, ROH films and Cine Mosaic.
This film marks the first of its kind co-production and is also the first Indo-French co-production since the signing of the Co-production treaty.
The Storyline
A simple film, `The Lunch Box' is a love story set in Mumbai between a young housewife and a middle aged man. It's about their beautiful relationship which is one day triggered by a wrong delivery of one in 8 million lunch boxes that is delivered daily by Mumbai's now famous Dabbawallas.
The Arrival
`The Lunchbox' opens on big screens on 20th September, 2013.
