Even as the entire kerala was mourning for the last couple of days on the sad demise of the powerful screen actor Thilakan, some of our big stars were noticed for their mysterious missing in the last rites. The superstars of Mollywood who had a bad time with the actor in his final days failed to turn up to the function, though they could have reached in less than two hour flightsfrom their shooting places.

Mammootty who wrote much of the condolences through the print media was shooting at Kozhikkod for 'Bavoottiude Namathil'. The megastar who normally turnsup in every such functions didn't take the day off to attend the function. Mohanlal was also shooting at Chennai, just a 90 minutes journey on flight from the capital city. Interestingly another young superstar was said to be at the capital city iitself, but failed to appear. None from the Dileep camp also cameup for the final farewell, to see the immortal body of the thespian.

The association of Malayalam movie artists was represented by Kunchakko boban who had rarely been with Thilakan in his movies.Actors like Nedumudi Venu and Captain Raju, who had faced the fiery criticisms from Thilakan were noted for their presence. The state minister K B Ganeshkumar, against whom Thilakan has fiercely campaigned in the last elections but stayed the entire day with the body of Thilakan. Criticisms are also arising from various corners as the industry didn't take a day off to mourn the death of a senior, active star.
