Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu has announced that the film 'Theri' will be re-released on April 14, 2026. Thanu had earlier produced the film 'Sachin', which was recently re-released and received great response. Following that success, he's bringing back ‘Theri’, starring actor Vijay, delighting Vijay fans.

'Theri' was originally released on April 14, 2016. Directed by Atlee and produced by Thanu, the film starred Vijay along with Samantha, Amy Jackson, Radhika Sarathkumar, Prabhu, and director Mahendran. The movie was a box office hit, earning double the cost of production in profits for the producer.

Due to its massive success, the film was remade in several languages including Sinhalese and Assamese. However, the Hindi remake failed to impress audiences, and the Telugu remake was discontinued shortly after it started shooting.

The return of ‘Theri’ to the big screen has been eagerly welcomed by fans, especially since it's timed for an anniversary release on the same date it first premiered.
