Ever since its revival, GV Films have been concentrating on making small and medium budget films with substance. Adding one in that list is Thirudi. With all newcomers in the cast, Thirudi is a romantic film set in rural background directed by debutant K Shankar.

Says Shankar, 'Though the world has become so busy and commercialized these days, there is life, love and warmth still in rural areas. It is the crux of Thirudi'.

Shankar, a one-time associate of Jeeva, says, 'The movie features newcomers Kathir and Dhanya. Fortunately they don't look like newcomers on the screen. They grasped things very fast and delivered them well on the take'.

Having studied Visual Communications in Loyola, Shankar assures the movie would be technically good too.

In a nutshell, the movie is about a young boy who comes from the city to a remote village to learn martial arts. There he comes across the heroine and falls for her. Troubles erupt when people come to know about their romance. Did he achieve his mission forms the rest.

A great fan of S Mahendran, Balachandar and Bharathiraja, the director says that he grew up watching their films.

Produced by GV Films, the movie has a newcomer Gunasekar as villain. The movie was shot in villages including Valliyur, Tirunelveli and Nagercoil and the surrounding villages.

People are ready to welcome new scripts and innovative ideas and I am confident of my movie's prospects, he adds.

Bharani an accomplished music director has scored the tunes. The audio was released a few days back. The response has been positive, he says.

Thirudi is set for release later this month.
