Renowned South Indian art director Thota Tharani has been honored with France’s prestigious Chevalier Award by the French Arts and Culture Organization for his outstanding contributions to cinema across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi films. Celebrated for iconic sets like the Dharavi slums in Nayakan, the internet café in Kadhalan, and grand visuals in Sivaji, Tharani has designed for hundreds of films and won multiple National and State Awards. The award will be presented by the French Ambassador in Chennai on November 13, 2025, alongside the inauguration of Tharani’s art exhibition. Notably, he joins legendary Tamil cinema icons Sivaji Ganesan and Kamal Haasan as recipients of this rare French honor, marking a proud moment for Indian film craftsmanship.
