The team behind the film 'Thug Life', directed by Mani Ratnam, is touring multiple cities across India to promote the movie. The film is set to release on June 5 and is based on a story idea originally shared by Kamal Haasan.
During a press meet in Mumbai on May 20, Mani Ratnam shared interesting details about the film. He mentioned, "Kamal Haasan was the first one who came on board for this project. It was only after that the story of 'Thug Life' developed. We had several discussions while starting the film, and now we are awaiting its release."
When asked whether the movie was made with the Gen Z audience in mind, Mani Ratnam jokingly replied, "We ourselves are Gen Z!"
Speaking about the film’s title, he said, "It was Kamal Haasan who came up with the title 'Thug Life'. We felt it was the perfect fit for the story. The film will appeal to Gen Z as well. It's an emotional drama set within the world of crime. Although there are action scenes, there is also strong emotional depth between characters."
Kamal Haasan added, "We discussed many different titles, suggesting them back and forth. But Mani Ratnam approved only this one."
