Controversy Over Thirupparankundram Hill: Kanal Kannan Seeks Pre-Arrest Bail

Madurai: Stunt master Kanal Kannan has filed an anticipatory bail petition in connection with a controversial social media post about the Tirupparankundram hill.

Kanal Kannan, a resident of Chennai’s Maduravoyal, filed the petition in the Madurai bench of the High Court. In his petition, he stated, “I am a member of the Hindu Munnani organization. I had posted a statement along with a song on platform ‘X’ that said ‘Arupadai Veedu is ours. Twist your mustache, Hindus, let’s move forward,’ referring to Tirupparankundram hill.”

He further added that a case was registered against him by the Madurai Cyber Crime Police, accusing him of disrupting religious harmony. He claimed that a false case was filed against him with malicious intent and insisted that he is a law-abiding citizen who will comply with all court-imposed conditions. Therefore, he requested anticipatory bail.

The petition was heard by Justice Sakthivel. The prosecution opposed granting anticipatory bail and requested time for the Chief Public Prosecutor to appear. Following this, the judge ordered that Kanal Kannan should not be harassed by the police until March 4 and postponed the hearing.
