In an unexpected move, the government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order announcing the transfer of the state health secretary Beela Rajesh IAS. She has been replaced by J Radhakrishnan IAS, who had been transferred from the health department in February 2019.

This decision has come at a time when the number of Coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu are increasing exponentially with Chennai holding more than 80% of the cases of the state, and the total count has crossed 35,000.

Beela Rajesh has been transferred and posted as secretary to Government, commercial taxes and registration department while J Anbazhagan who had previously been the Principal secretary/ commisioner of Revenue administration has been transferred to health department.
