Germany's Alexander Zverev ended World No. 1 Tennis player Novak Djokovic's bid for a Golden Slam after defeating the Serbian player 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the men's singles game at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 semi-final.

Djokovic seemed to have the upper hand in the game after winning the first set 6 - 1 but Zverev made an epic comeback in the following two sets to seal the fate of the match. The German star will now face Russian player Karen Khachanov in the final at the Tokyo Olympics while Djokovic will be playing against Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta in the bronze medal match. The 34-year-old World No. 1 Tennis player was a favourite to win the tournament, especially in the absence of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray.

Djokovic was attempting to secure the gold medal at the Olympics as well as the four Grand Slam titles in a calendar year to become the first man in the history of Tennis to achieve the Golden Slam. The Serbian Tennis star has already won the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon, while the US Open is scheduled to take place during the end of summer.
