With homosexuality having been decriminalized by the Supreme Court, 'AWE!' director Prasanth Varma is a happy man.  He is perhaps the first filmmaker in Tollywood who has portrayed a homosexual relationship in a non-stereotypical manner.  In 'AWE!', Nithya Menen and Eesha Rebba are lovers and their same-sex relationship is eventually accepted by the latter's elders.

"Love is love.  #RIPSection377," Varma tweeted out, sharing a still of Nithya's character kissing Eesha's from the critically-acclaimed entertainer.

The director is currently doing an investigative thriller with Dr. Rajasekhar.  It's set in the 1980s.  Reportedly, he will also do a web series for producer Manjula Ghattamaneni (Mahesh Babu's sister) for a digital streaming site.
