1. ‘Kuselan’: Rajinikanth's new movie 'Kuselan' opened up in theatres with usual enthusiasm and spirit, registering full houses all around Kerala. The movie released in eighty one centers, has the phenomenal Rajini factor working wonders. The curiosity around how the remake of an original super hit in Malayalam has shaped up will also ensure a fantastic couple of weeks for the movie. The movie also have got a good word-of-mouth.

2. ‘Maadambi’: The movie's good show at the box office has brought smiles on the face Mohanlal who was down with a number of flops in the last six months. Though fallen to the number two position with the arrival of ‘Kuselan’, the movie registers 85 percent collections in weekends. The heavy rains had its toll on the movie, which has reduced the audience incoming in some centers. Anyway the movie is moving up to the status of a super hit. 3. ‘Minnaminnikoottam’: Kamal's ‘Minnaminnikkoottam' remains steady with audiences. As the film enters its fourth week, the collections in the metros are really good and families have started acknowledging the movie as a good family hit. With the steady audiences in all the important centers, the movie will end up from an average earner to a decent hit.

4. ‘Kabadi Kabadi’: The new Kalabahavan Mani-Mukesh starrer has opened up in the forth position. The movie has plenty of slapstick comedies and a reasonably new storylines. The director duo Sudheer Manu, coupled with Suraj Venjaramoodu and co have succeeded in creating continuous humorous sequences, all through the movie ‘Kabadi Kabadi’ is expected to fare better than the recent films from the second level heroes.

5. ‘Parunthu’: This Mammootty starrer remains the weakest in collections, while entering its third week. Though the film has been removed from about half of the release centers, the fantastic three - day opening, and big release strategy has paid off. The movie managed to end up as an average earner only due to its release hypes.

The other movies in theatres include Suresh Gopi's ‘Laptop’, Kamal's 'Dasavathaaram’, and a few English movies like forbidden kingdom which manage to fill the remaining of the release centers with average collections.
