Tripura: BJP-IPFT cabinet to be sworn in on 08th March (Thursday)

Following the BJP’s landslide victory in the just-concluded Tripura Assembly polls, a BJP-IPFT cabinet is likely to be sworn in on Thursday (08th March).

BJP and its ally IPFT (Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura) managed to win 43 out of the 59 seats contested, thus securing more than two-thirds majority in the 59-seat Tripura Assembly for which polls were held on 18th February.

CPI-M, which had been ruling the State for more than two decades, could manage only 16 seats in a clear anti-incumbency mandate. Outgoing chief-minister Manik Sarkar has said that the party would observe how the BJP rules the State and would function accordingly, keeping the people’s welfare in mind.

In all likelihood, Biplab Kumar Deb, the BJP chief in Tripura, will be sworn in as the next chief-minister of the State.
