TRS leader Kavitha trounces BJP, Congress in Nizamabad MLC polls

TRS leader Kavitha trounces BJP, Congress in Nizamabad MLC polls

TRS leader Kalvakuntla Kavitha has won the Nizamabad MLC election with a huge margin. The daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is a former Member of Parliament who lost the elections in 2019.

The popular leader across the State secured 531 first preference votes in the Local Authorities' Segment. So, she was declared a winner in the first round itself.

Her rivals have put in poor performance. Both BJP (39 votes) and Congress (22 votes) lost deposits.

The national parties got fewer votes than expected because of heavy cross-voting.
