Tum Bin 2 Review

Expectations

Director Anubhav Sinha made his debut with 'Tum Bin' in 2001 and after that went into the action genre by making films like 'Dus', 'Cash' and 'Ra.One'.He returns back to his old genre of emotional romance after a gap of fifteen years with 'Tum Bin 2'. The franchise factor along with some good songs has managed to gather mild expectations despite of presence of any big name in the film.

Story

'Tum Bin 2' is a story of Amar (Aashim Gulati) and his girlfriend Taran (Neha Sharma), who are enjoying their winter holidays in a ski resort. One day while skiing Amar meets up with an accident and due to snow avalanche is body is nowhere to be found. This shatters Taran and Amar's father Papaji (Kanwaljeet Singh). As time flies Papaji requests Taran to move on with her life. He also introduces his friend’s son Shekhar (Aditya Seal) to Taran and her family. Shekar blends with everyone and also helps Taran to overcome her grief. In this process they fall in love with each other. But before they could move ahead fate takes a twisted turn.

The 'Glitz' Factor

The basic story idea is almost similar to 'Tum Bin' and goes perfectly with its theme. The first half is enjoyable as well as intriguing due to the emotional and musical connect.

The movie has some great emotionally enriching scenes which are the highlight of the film and gives perfect tribute to the main concept of 'Tum Bin' franchise. There are some good dialogues which adds up as an additional screenplay in the first half of the film.

The cinematography is superb and all the outdoor locations are fantastic. The music of 'Tum Bin' was one of the key reasons for its success and out here, there are few fantastic songs which adds more depth to the emotional scenes.

Director Anubhav Sinha manages to create the same atmosphere and succeeds in making the first half connect with its audience. Neha Sharma looks beautifully stunning and does her part with total grace. Aditya Seal looks promising and succeeds in the emotional scenes. Kanwaljit Singh is superb in his small role. Meher Vij and Sonia Balani lend good support.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The second falls flat due to cluttered screenplay and repetitive moments. The movie drags on without any reasons and dilutes the impact of the film. The twists are predictable and climax part is totally bland as it lacks the soul factor. The emotional quotient is not appealing nor convincing in the finale portions. C.G.I work is terrible. Few songs are unwanted as they add up to the length of the film and dilutes the flow.

Director Anubhav Sinha fails to enhance the beauty of his debut film. He fails badly in the second half due to the half-baked screenplay and unwanted tracks in the film. Aashim Gulati is not up to the mark.

Final 'Glitz'

'Tum Bin 2' is a half-baked emotionally romantic film, which works only in parts and fails to match up to the brilliance of 'Tum Bin'.
