The buzz around Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming film Madraasi, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, is getting louder—not just among fans but also within the television industry. Reports suggest that three major Tamil TV channels—Sun TV, Star Vijay, and Zee Tamil—are in a bidding war for the satellite rights to the film.
In recent years, many producers have struggled to secure profitable deals for OTT and satellite rights, especially when films underperform post-release. OTT platforms have become increasingly cautious, often waiting to gauge a film’s reception before committing to big deals. However, this trend doesn’t apply to films featuring major stars. When it comes to big names like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, or Ajith, both OTT platforms and TV networks scramble to grab the rights in advance.
Sivakarthikeyan has now firmly joined that elite club. After the resounding success of his 2023 release Amaran, his market value has skyrocketed. Industry insiders reveal that Madraasi’s television rights are being negotiated at a record-high price, with Sun TV currently leading the race.
Backed by a star-studded ensemble including Biju Menon, Vidyut Jammwal, Rukmini Vasanth, Vikrant, Sabbir, and Premkumar, Madraasi promises to be a mass entertainer. The film features music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Sudeep, and editing by Sridhar Prasad. Produced by Sri Lakshmi Movies with a whopping ₹200 crore budget, Madraasi is slated for a grand release later this year.
As anticipation builds, both fans and broadcasters are watching closely to see who secures one of the hottest film properties in the Tamil industry right now.
