TV influence: Class X students murder classmate

In a shocking instance of entertainment negatively influencing impressionable minds, four Class X students recently killed a fellow classmate in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior.
Getting into the details, they abducted the victim and hid him somewhere. The boy's parents immediately lodged a missing complaint. One of the culprits called up the victim's parents and gave misleading information about where the boy was. Some drama happened for a few days.
The police, who started hunting for the missing boy, sensed that his classmates must be knowing the truth. When interrogated, one of the culprits spilled the beans. He said that he and three others had killed their classmate on Oct 17, the date on which they abducted him. They were looking at walking away with ransom by blackmailing his parents.
Apparently, they confessed to having been influenced by a TV soap belonging to the crime genre.
