Two superstars enrich the coffers

  • IndiaGlitz, [Monday,October 03 2011]

In a span of less than one month, two South Indian superstars rose to the Totem Pole of popularity in two States. We are talking about Tollywood Prince Mahesh Babu and Thalai Ajith Kumar of Kollywood. The two actors stormed on the scene with their films and proved that their Box Office standing is unmatched.

While Dookudu turned out to be the biggest grosser in the history of Telugu cinema (its first week collections are pegged at half a billion rupees. Gasp!), Mankatha had astonished the trade pundits in Tamil Nadu by crossing their expectations.

The simultaneous rise of these superstars proves that, given all the ingredients, repeating the feats of a Chiranjeevi in terms of collections is not a big deal for the biggest stars even in this age of piracy and BO's commercial slide.

Besides consolidating their positions in Tollywood and Kollywood respectively, they have given a breather to all the stakeholders.

Way to go, Mahesh and Ajith!
