Nayanthara first appeared in Aadavan` produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and the producer himself has stated in interviews that the Queen of Kollywood was the first choice heroine for his acting debut vehicle Oru Kal Oru Kannadi` which Nayan refused as she took time off from acting to recover from her breakup with Prabhu Deva.

Nayanthara signed Udhay`s second movie as hero Idhu Kadhirvelan Kadhal` and the rumor mills started grinding linking the two up and then went on an overdrive when they again came together for Nanbenda` . There were claims that Udhay during Nanbenda` harassed Nayan forcing her to agree for marriage and went to the extent of booking a marriage hall when Nayan slapped him.

Udhay in a recent interview to a leading weekly admits both the incidents did happen, but as part of Nanbenda` storyline. He plays Sathya who falls for Nayanthara`s character and throughout the movie pesters her to accept his love so that he can book the marriage hall. The slap was a result of mistiming during an action sequence. Well that settles that and come April 2nd we can all lean back and enjoy the comedy feast 'Nanbenda, from the Udhayanidhi-Nayanthara-Santhanam team.
