UIDAIs new rules for Aadhar Card updations

The UIDAI has notified new rules with respect to the updation of details on Aadhar Card. Those of you whose Aadhar Card reflects the wrong name or date of birth or gender would do well to know the stringent rules.

You can update your name in the Card only twice. Beyond this, no change will be allowed.

The new rule regarding DoB is even more stringent. You can update the detail only once. In case you are not submitting any new document as DoB proof during the updation, the DoB in the Aadhar Card will be taken as the appropriate one by the UIDAI. And the cardholder can get the DoB rectified by only three years (plus or minus).

Gender details, too, can be updated just once.

Exceptional cases have been accounted for. In such cases, the cardholder has to visit the regional office of the UIDAI.
