Unruly behaviour on flight to be punishable

Following the civil aviation ministry's draft of 'national no-fly list' of unruly passengers, the government has proposed to make offensive behaviour on-board flights as a punishable offence.

The behaviour of MPs in the recent months has given the impetus for such as step. Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad assaulted an Air India employee, hitting him "25 times" with slippers for not being given a business-class seat on an all-economy seat. More recently, Telugu Desam Party MP J C Diwakar Reddy went berserk at the Visakhapatnam airport, assaulting the IndiGo ground staffers for being denied boarding on account of him being late.
