The recently released 'Vada Chennai' directed by Vetrimaaran is one of the few films in this year that has garnered high critical praise and is also a hit at the box office. The film starred the ensemble cast of Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajesh, Ameer, Andrea, Samuthirakani, Kishore and Daniel Balaji. The film was initially planned as a trilogy with the second and third parts to be shot in the coming months.

Now news has surfaced that Vetrimaaran has decided to direct a spinoff of 'Vada Chennai' titled 'Rajan Vagaiyara' as web series which will focus on the life of Ameer's character Rajan from his childhood up to the events shown in the movie. Andrea, Samuthirakani, Daniel Balaji and Kishore are also said to be a part of this project. Does this mean that trilogy will be cut short and only 'Vada Chennai 2' focussing on Dhanush's character Anbu's rise as a don will be made? We have to wait for the official confirmation from the Vetrimaaran- Dhanush combo.

Meanwhile Vetrimaaran has already announced that he and Dhanush will soon start shooting for a new movie titled 'Vekkai' based on a novel of the same name written by Poomani.
