Thalapathy Vijay's 'Mersal' has become more political than any of his previous movie. With the Tamil Nadu unit of BJP that rules the nation at the centre raising up in arms against the film as the film criticises GST and Digital money with a few dialogues. many politicians of the other parties in Tamil Nadu have raised their voice in favor of the film and actor Vijay.

G.Ramakrishnan, the State General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has sent a statement condemning the stiff opposition of BJP for the film and actor Vijay as an attack on the Freedom of Expression.

Now the firebrand politician and MDMK founder Vaiko has watched the film 'Mersal; in a Chennai theater on Friday evening and he has appreciated the film's content and the call it raises for free medical treatment to all people in the country.

Addressing press persons after watching the film Vaiko said "There are many private hospitals that demand ransom to release the mortal remains of the patients who are dead. There are hospitals that try to extract money from relatives even after knowing well that it is impossible to save the patient. So there is nothing wrong in what has been shown in the film. 'Mersal' is a good film which has very good dialogues and a social message. Vijay has done very well and he has shown good variation in three different characters. Rahman's music and cinematography are also good. "
