After Rajini and Kamal it is the Thala Ajith vs Thalapathy Vijay professional rivalry that carries immense firepower and drives the Kollywood film industry. Of course, the two mass heroes are close friends personally but their fans don't see it that way and often indulge in online wars on social media for upmanship.

For the general audiences who love both the stars it is a rare treat if their films release on the same day as they would watch and enjoy both especially during the festivals. If all goes well it looks like a Thala-Thalapathy clash is brewing at the box office after a long time.

Boney Kapoor officially announced that Thala Ajith's 'Valimai' will be releasing on Pongal 2022. Thalapathy Vijay's 'Beast' on the other hand was planned for Diwali this year but due to the delays caused by the pandemic plans are on to bring it to screens also around the January 14th date. If this happens then the two megastars will come face to face after seven long years.

The last time that Thala and Thalapathy films clashed was also on Pongal on 2014 when Ajith's 'Veeram' and Vijay's 'Jilla' went head on together. The Siruthai Siva-directed rural-themed film turned out to be a blockbuster for Thala while the debutante Neason directed mass masala for Vijay which also had Mohan Lal sharing screen space with him was a super hit.

The earlier clashes of Ajith and Vijay are 'Kalloori Vasal' - 'Poove Unakkaga' (1996), 'Kushi' - 'Unnai Kodu Ennai Tharuven' (2000), 'Friends' - 'Dheena' (2001), 'Bhagavathi'- 'Villain' (2002) and 'Pokkiri'-'Aalwar' (2007).

Lets wait and watch if 'Valimai' and 'Beast' will join the list of epic Thala-Thalapathy clashes and rewrite history by both becoming blockbuster hits and entertaining all sections of the audience.
