Not So Powerful
Saturday, January 10, 2015 • Tamil Comments

Imman has already put himself in the elite league with some impressive albums, especially the love trilogy with Prabhu Solomon. But often he had delivered some mixed bags too. Let’s see what he got for Saravanan’s ‘Valiyavan’.

Aaha Kadhal Vandhu – K.G. Ranjith Listen here

A vibrating number to start the album. The composer has let the singer to lead the song and played safely in the background with imaginative sound arrangements. Ranjith delivered a neat performance, especially his modulations are a treat to hear.

Hello Hello – Papon Listen here

Imman goes back to his ‘Englishkaaran’ days and dished a middling number. Though the experiment is laudable, the song doesn’t make any impact whatsoever at any point. Papon in a Tamil song is a surprise factor, but unfortunately, that’s the only notable thing in this track.

Kathal Nallavana – Snigdha Chandra, Elfe Choir Listen here

Imman throws another unimpressive number as the track and the vocals sounds very labored. Having said that, the song does carry an impressive Choir section and their effort has gone in vain because of a bland tune.

O Baby Come With Me – D. Imman, M.L.R. Karthikeyan Listen here

The composer offers an ear friendly track after two bummers and this one will work, if visuals support offers some kind of support. Imman and Karthikeyan both have performed brilliantly to up the ante. Imman has focussed on both the interludes and added electronic guitars to evoke the party feel.

Yelomia – Sunidhi Chauhan Listen here

The much needed melody of the album is here. Sunidhi sounds so sweetly to add the ice-creami’sh flavour to the sweeping tune. Imman has handled the string sections really well, and apart from the word ‘Yelomia’, which is touted be taken from another galaxy, the song carries some wonderful verses.

Pick(s) of the album – Yelomia, Aaha Kadhal Vandhu
