In 2013, actor Mirchi Shiva and Priya Anand were paired in the romantic comedy Vanakkam Chennai, which marked the directorial debut of Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, and the movie which had music by Anirudh was received fairly well by audience.Now, the same pair is coming together for an upcoming project.

Shiva and Priya Anand will be seen together in an upcoming interesting movie named as Sumo which is directed by Shankar's former assistant Hosimin who had earlier made the Shanthanu starrer Aayiram Vilakku. This movie, said to be an Indo - Japanese project was mostly shot in Japan.

Sumo will have cinematography by Rajiv Menon and music by Nivas K Prasanna. Shiva will be writing the dialogues for this movie, making it his maiden outing as a dialogue writer. Sumo will have 18 real Sumo wrestlers who were selected by conducting audition.
