Vanakkam Thalaivaa Review
Sakthi Paramesh

Vanakkam Thalaiva is a movie which has been churned out to cash in on Sathyaraj image. But the cultivated insouciance (lollu) seems to go overboard and the double meaning dialogues and screenplay sans any logic do no good for the movie either.

Debutant director Sakthi Paramesh has taken a good theme, but has given it a bad treatment.

Sathyaraj as usual comes in different costumes - a police officer, a tantrik, a Michael Jackson look-alike. But all looks a total mismatch and also speaks lengthy dialogues of serving no purpose.

Vivek in the company of  Venniradai Murthy and Shakeela comes out with double meaning dialogues. It's unfortunate to see a comedian like Vivek stooping to such levels.

The movie begins with Manickam (Sathyaraj) dressed as a sardar kidnapping Mano's (Abbas) girl friend  Divya (Susan). Manickam breaks every attempt of Mano to trace his lover by appearing in different costumes and confusing him.

Aruchamy (Vivek),a suspended police inspector from Pondicherry, comes to help his friend Mano in tracing his lover. He joins Manickam as his lorry cleaner and succeeds in tracing the house where Divya is held as captive.

Shock awaits Aruchamy and Mano when they enter the house with police  as Divya confesses that she had not seen Mano before and that she was married to Manickam several years ago.

The truth is brought out by Aruchamy. Manickam's wife Ramya (Pranathi) was run down by Mano's car when he was in an inebriated condition and using his money and influence had covered up the case then. As a result of which Manickam along with his sister-in-law Divya had enacted a drama to teach Mano a lesson.

Sathyaraj looks tired and actions and mannerisms appear very predictable. After a long gap one sees Abbas in a prominent role. Susan and Pranathi also finds a place in the movie.

Vivek, who goes overboard at few places with his double entendre, is the only solace in the whole movie.

The technical aspects of the film are just average. The director has not taken much effort to cobble a decent script. In the event, the film falters badly.
