Following the Coronavirus outbreak and the lockdown getting imposed, many movies have been opting for a direct OTT release, and Jyothika starrer Ponmagal Vandhaal and Keerthy Suresh starrer Penguin were released directly on Amazon prime video.

Recently it was announced that Danny starring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and directed by debutant Sathyamurthy will have a direct OTT release on Zee5 platform soon. Now it has been reported that the movie will premiere on August 1 on Zee 5.

Danny also stars Yogi Babu and Vela Ramamoorthy and has a dog playing an important role. The movie which has music by Santhosh Dayanidhi revolves around a police officer played by Varalaxmi and her bond with a dog named Danny in the dog squad.
