Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide has opened up questions regarding nepotism in cinema and that outsiders are being marginalized. Actor Ashwin Kakkamanu of 'Idharku Thaaney Aasai Pattai Balakumara' and 'Mankatha' fame has stated on Twitter that he too has faced the issue in Kollywood.

Ashwin had tweeted "In the wake of what's been happening in terms of marginalising and trivialising some people to teach them their place or to trivialise and ignore some people to put another on a pedestal, I came across @AbhayDeol post and realise that this happens on every level..the need to hammer every nail that stands out, and in the end an outsider is celebrated and treated like a god, only when they are successful.'Hard work never fails' is a cliche that is only celebrated when the result is a 'public' success.Realised how much I had bottled in over the years. People who ignore and marginalise your efforts or worth, humiliate you and of course backstabbing (the list wouldn't be complete without that one) all the bitter experiences people go through just to do what they love doing. And while I'm more numb to every new variation of these efforts to sideline, I think people should maybe make an effort to just treat everyone with some respect instead of like dirt, and then treat them like a god later. Treat people like a human being, like you would like to be."

Ashwin also added that a popular video anchor had deliberately avoided using his name when mentioning about a film he starred in 'Idhu Vedalam Sollum Kadhai'.

Ilayaraja's niece and popular Kollywood costume designer Vasuki Bhaskar has replied to Ashwin with a strong Thala Ajith reference for inspiration. She has written "There are many a #SushantSingRajput in our Tamil film industry who get no payment,no support,no recognition yet they put a brave front n smile to e camera.few speak 2me few remain silent in pain 2suffer humiliation in a diff. form. To so many such, remember thala Ajith then n now (Social media posts not spell checked).
