Actor Vemal has been known for his rural entertainer movies like Pasanga, Kalavani, Mannar Vagaiyara, Thoonga Nagaram etc and he was recently seen on screen in the comedy entertainer Kalavani 2, which was the sequel to his 2010 movie Kalavani, directed by Sarkunam.

Now the actor has signed his next movie which has been titled as Chozha Naataan. This movie will be directed by debutant Ranjith Kanna and will be produced by Harish Film Production. Reportedly, unlike his usual family hero roles, Vemal will be seen as an action hero.

Chozha Naataan will have Vemal playing a character from Thiruvaiyaru and will be a soft hero until an event happening in Chennai changes him. The movie's female lead is yet to be finalized and will also star Nagineedu, Thangadurai, Ramar, and will begin shooting in August.
