'Venkatapuram' scores big in first weekend

'Venkatapuram', written and directed by debutante Venu Madikanti, has turned out to be a hit. The crime-thriller, made on a humble budget, mopped up Rs. 97 lakhs (worldwide gross) as of the end of Sunday.
Starring Rahul and Mahima in lead roles, the film is based on a true incident. The narration style has worked for the movie, more than the story line. Ajay Ghosh and Ajay as cops have added to the success quotient.
Brought out by Shreyas Media and Good Cinema Group, the film has got critical acclaim, while Achu's music too has contributed to the success.
