Veteran multilingual actress Jayanthi has been admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru after she complained of breathing difficulties. A COVID-19 test has been taken and the result came back negative.  Her son Krishna Kumar has told the media that his mother's condition is stable.

Back in 2018, the septuagenarian was hospitalized after she developed severe asthmatic conditions.  She has been an asthma patient for more than 35 years.

Jayanthi was a leading actress in the black and white era and has acted in over 500 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.  In Telugu, she did a number of movies through the 1960s till 2000s, with 'Pedarayudu' and the like being her famous appearances as a senior actress.
